Chapter 5 | DRAWING ANIMALS WITH A BASIC PENCIL
Exercise: To conclude this lesson, you might enjoy copying or even tracing one or more of the following animals, each drawn with a basic 2B pencil. A number of animals comes from the comic Little Nemo in Slumberland by Winsor McCay (1869-1934), the founder of comic and animation art.
When redrawing animals from a color photograph in bright light, you often have to add shadows yourself to make the body look more three-dimensional. For the complex pose of the lioness, I started on the left with the broken drawing style and a few guide lines.
The same goes for the jackal.
