Exercise 1: Draw your own left or right shoe from the side. Place the shoe on a table in front of you (preferably at eye level). If necessary, first very lightly draw the shape of a bare foot from the side (see Chapter 1).
Exercise 2: Place a real shoe in a completely new imaginary environment. Here some examples of pupils for inspiration.
EXTRA 1: Imagine one of a pair of your shoes/slippers is lost, maybe somewhere left by accident. Fantasize in a few loose drawings or a comic strip a short journey for your shoe/slipper in the search of his mate.
EXTRA 2: Draw or paint a sequence of three close-ups of feet with shoes standing/walking somewhere. Use an extremely low angle (image). In each shot, the feet have moved foreward a little, which makes the background look slightly different. Make sure that the shots have a visual unity (= that they match each other in terms of color and composition). You can also make this a photo assignment for yourself. Of course, you will need a model for that.
