Drawing braids is a complicated puzzle! Thick strands of hair twist in front and behind each other like snakes. Only by giving each strand a different color it becomes clear that there are three of them. Especially the direction of the hair is indicated and some extra shadow is added where one strand disappears behind the other. Here and there a loose hair sticking out makes the braid even more realistic.
Exercise: If you want to try this puzzle yourself, it is best to start very light. Note that the braid gets narrower towards the end. Two assisting lines on the left and right, from top to bottom, may help with that. Of course you can also print this page and trace a braid first.
Two strands would have been a lot easier!
