
In paintings and drawings with distant views, atmospheric perspective is often used. The atmosphere (air/mist, etc.) makes distant objects appear blurrier/less contrasting/less detailed.

Exercise: Draw a mountain landscape a bit similar to the one below (approx. 10 x 10 cm) or use the photo as a starting point. Try to apply some atmospheric perspective with contrasting lines, shades of gray and maybe some details. In color, the most distant parts usually become blue-gray.
