Side pieces or ‘wings’ on either side of a perspective drawing enhance the depth effect, in this example trees and a house. They seem to push the hills further away. The winding path connects the foreground and background.

Wings (combined with a painted backdrop) are used in theaters to create a sense of depth. In a sixteenth-century perspective set, they are painted with mountains, clouds, and the sea.

EXTRA: Design a stage with wings and a backdrop. Use my construction as a basis if you prefer. Of course you can give the wings any shape you like.
