An enigmatic masterpiece is the drawing of the left and right hands by the famous Dutch artist Mauritz Escher. The hands emerge from a sheet of paper and are busy drawing a sleeve of each other’s shirt. Escher has drawn his hands in an almost photorealistic manner. Thanks to the subtle shadow effect, you can even see the veins running and where the hand is soft or hard, wrinkled or smooth.

Wonderful drawings like the ones below were often intended as a study for a painting.
Left: hands of a young woman, Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres (1780-1867).
Right: hand study, Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519)
This is the end of the lesson on drawing hands. Cheers!
