Exercise: Make a drawing in which something or someone appears from behind the curtain.
The world-famous British artist Banksy creates his drawings and paintings unnoticed on walls all over the world. We never see Banksy himself. A hallmark of his work is that he always incorporates the existing environment into the design. Here, he has transformed a white brick wall into a pleated canvas, and behind it, an orange brick wall painted. A maid is busy sweeping dirt under the curtain.

It’s a commentary on people who prefer to hide problems rather than solve them. Banksy also protests against some governments or companies that want to cover up bad things, or “sweep them under the rug.” Think of corruption, exploitation, poverty, and other injustices.
