In 1952 the Belgian artist René Magritte painted a giant apple in the middle of a room with a sea view. In fact, the apple was so big that there was no room for furniture or a kitchen. How did that apple get there? Magritte loved to paint things that are impossible in real life, perhaps only in a dream.
Exercise: I will show you how you could build such a representation, possibly with another piece of fruit such as a pear, kiwi, pineapple, raspberry, banana or blackberry.
Step 1: first draw the lines of a room very lightly in a frame of about 20×20 centimeters. You can make the back wall a bit bigger or smaller.
Step 2: place a piece of fruit on the table in front of you. Draw very lightly only the outline of your piece of fruit nice and big in the room. Then erase lines from the room behind the fruit.
Step 4: color the piece of fruit and the room if you like.
