Chapter 1 | CATS IN DISTRESS

I copied this cat from the Romanian-American artist Saul Steinberg. Drawing a cat at an angle with its legs and tail pointing in all directions makes it appear as if it is falling or has to hold on to something before it falls, perhaps from a tree, a gutter or an airplane.

Exercise 1: Draw one or more of these poses of a falling cat. You can also try drawing a cat upside down.

Exercise 2: Draw a bunch of falling cats somewhere in the top or middle of your paper. What can you come up with to rescue/catch them?
